Since August 2009 our second own house is occupied by all our boys.
All our children from the former Mbagala house were able to move to our new property after a poor transitional phase.
Since 2003 Markus Brand and the Förderkreis Köln had been supporting the orphanage project Mbagala. Thanks to his tireless support for a “good reason”, we were able to give 10 children a chance for a better life. Since 2004 our children and foster mother Penina had lived in the apartment house in the district of Mbagala.
Beforehand, the house had been a chicken farm, which means that chickens were actually kept and bred inside of the house. We reconstructed and renovated the house completely.
In return for our work we were allowed to live there without paying rent for 5 years. If the house owner had stood to the agreement, we wouldn't have had to move out early.
But now the transition time is over! On completion of our second own house all our children live together on our new property!
Since August we have a new foster father. Cyprian lives together with his wife and his two children on the property and takes care of our boys. He educates them with love and strictness.
In the morning, the enclosed property of our children’s house is swept with a straw broom and the leaves are removed. For instance, this is how trails from snakes can be discovered. Here there is also breakfast after everyone has washed and dressed themselves. Mama Mirjam or our maid Elizabeth checks the uniforms of the children, and then it’s off to school, to which one has to cross the slum area. Onesmo, the Big One, goes to secondary school in the direction of the main road.
In the evening after lessons, the children play and read in preparation for the next school day. Trainees from Germany, Austria or Switzerland are usually on the scene. They always bring along new impressions and above all many new games. As everywhere in Africa, the house is locked and the day comes to an end before everyone goes to bed
On Sunday, all of the children go to church in their respective part of town. Everyone gets dressed up and always look forward to the event. Our children are guided through their life in the creed of the bible. The individual churches support this very positively.
The Christian religious doctrines give the children moral stability, hope and guidance in their life.
Under our monthly donation program, you can support a child at our children’s home in Tanzania.
